ARRMA's cheap 4WD and 2WD cars are a great starter package for any driver. Whether you're just sarting out or an experienced driver. A durable high quality car that works really well right out of the box. The cars come ready to run but if you want a little extra performance out of them here's a couple of tips:
4x4 Upgrade for the BOOST-models
The 4x2 BOOST-models may be rear-wheel-drive, but they're completely based on the ever so popular 4x4 chassis, to the point where a single transmission upgrade set will allow you to turn the car into a 4x4 beast. Said upgrade set can be found here:

Battery and charger:
ARRMA's 4x4 cars have the following connectors, alwas make sure your batteries are compatible:
Mega series (brushed): IC3 which is compatible with EC3 connectors
BLX series (brushless): IC5 which is compatible with EC5 connectors
MEGA NiMh (stock)
If you want extra runtime you can get another NiMh-battery, for example another stock battery will double your runtime: Dynamite 8.4V 3300mAh 7-Cell Speedpack2 Hump NiMH Battery: EC3 (DYNB2071EC)
If extra runtime is not enough and you want a little extra power out of your car too it might be time to get into the world of LiPo-batteries. Check out the instructions below on how to find the perfect 2S LiPo for you. LiPos are a lot better than NiMh-batteries, the voltage stays higher for much longer meaning they pack a lot more punch than a NiMh does. Our reommendation for a good basic 2S LiPo would beTeam Orion 2S 60C Ranger LiPo Battery (7.4V/5000mAh) EC3 ORI14314. Remember that a LiPo also needs a charger designed for them such as the Spektrum S150 AC/DC Smart Charger 50W and choosing the LiPo-mode from the ESC of the car!
MEGA LiPo package
If you want more runtime for your LiPo package we recommend you just get another one of the batteries that came with it. The price and performance of these really meet! Team Orion 2S 60C Ranger LiPo Battery (7.4V/5000mAh) EC3 ORI14314.
BLX packages
If you want more runtime we recommend the 5000mAh batteries from Team Orion's Ranger-series. They're well worth the money they cost. For basic use the 2S batteries are what we recommend: Team Orion 2S 60C Ranger LiPo Battery (7.4V/5000mAh) EC5 ORI14323. If crazy power is what you're looking for then get the 3S battery, but don't forget that there's a LOT of speed and power in your hands with that.Team Orion 3S 55C Ranger LiPo Battery (11.1V/5000mAh) EC5 ORI14318
Chargers
The stock charger included in the Mega packages is a good basic charger that'll get the job done if you're just running NiMh batteries. If you want a faster charger that could also charge other types of batteries we recommend you get a smart charger. Our favorite options are
Spektrum S150 AC/DC Smart Charger 50W, Team Orion Advantage ONE 405 AC/DC Charger ORI30227 or a dual channel charger: . Notice that the chargers by Team Orion don't come with all the necessary charging leads or ports for the btteries these cars use. The S150 by SPektrum comes with an IC3 charging port but not an IC5 adapter.

Wheels and tires
The tires that come with these cars from the factory have good grip and are great tires all around. Definitely along the best tires for all-around use. If you plan on taking your car to a track racing tires will generally give you much better grip for that specific surface and on snow paddle tires can give the car an insane amount of grip.
Most of the ARRMA 4x4 vehicles come with 14mm hexes that ae more durable than the standard 12mm hexes. This does mean that when shopping for new wheels andtires you must make sure they come with 14mm hex wheels or get 12mm hex adapters for your car to have a wider selection of wheels to pick. Maintaining the wheels and tires
The wheels and tires need frequent mainteance and check-ups to stay in tact for a long time.
-The gluing of the tires should be checked after each run, especially during the first few times out. If the gluings have come undone it's important to clean the section and glue it down so the tire doesn't rip. We recommend a proper tire glue that really sticks, but in the case of an emergency you can use basic CA-based superglue. It should hold for a few runs until you get your hands on a bottle of tire glue.
-Another good way to ensure a longer lifespan for your tires is to block the holes on the inside of the wheels and instead punch 2 holes on opposite sides of the tires. That way the centriffugal force of the spinning tire will throw dirt and moisture out of the tires which keeps the inserts in good shape. If you have water or ust built up into your tires punch said holes to the tires, turn the car upside down and hold the throttle on at a decent speed until the insides of the tires are dry and clean.
-Make sure that the tires of your RC car don't spin too fast. This can happen when one or two of the tires leave the ground and the differentials of the car allow those to spin almost twice as fast as they normally would. If you notice that this happens while you're cornering etc. immediatly decrease throttle to keep the tire from ripping apart.
Cleaning
The cas in the ARRMA Mega 4x4 series arefull blown hobby grade vehicles that'll get you into the world of RC with a quality package. You should remmber that proper RC cars require regular service and maintenance in order to stay in good shape. It all starts from keeping the car clean. A very simple thing to do but also to forget. Clean your RC car frequently and protect it from corrosion using a multifunction oil such as WD40, or Q20 Multi Purpose lubricant 400ml. This keeps the car from rusting and unnecessary wear. The bearings of the car should be oiled frequently, especially if you're running in moist or dusty environments. A bearing that has been driven in damp conditions and hasn't been oiled can get stuck and when that happens something else in the car is likely to give too. The electronics may burn or a differential box may melt. When oiling your bearings we recommend you use a proper bearing oil such as Avid Kuulalaakeri öljykynä (7.4cc)

Motor and ESC
Mega and BOOST:
If you're after more power, reliability and efficiency we recommend you upgrade the electronics of your brushed RC vehicle into a brushless system. This combo is really good and it's cheap too, just make sure you pick EC3/IC3 for the connector change before adding it to the cart: Robitronic Razer ten Brushless Combo 60A 3652 4000kV. For this upgrade the BOOST-models also require a separate receiver.
Limiting the power:
The new SLT3 radios have twodifferent ways of limiting the power of your vehicle. The simple 50%/75%/100% switch and a hidden proportional end point adjustment. The hidden option can be used so that your kid can't accidentally enable the full power of the car. The hidden end point adjustments can be found in the user's manual of the SLT3 under the Servo travel topic: SLT3 manual
The SLT2 radio that comes with the BOOST models only has the 50%/75%/100% switch.

Quick guide for the hidden power limiting (end point adjustments):
-Turn off the car and transmitter
-Turn the steering wheel all the way to the right and push the throtle trigger to full brake, while holding these positions turn the transmitter on.
-The transmitter's indicator light should blink 5 times meaning you're in the adjustment mode.
-Apply throttle and use your thumb to press on the CH3 switch's arrow that points down. The transmitter will blink any time a change is made.
-When you've limited it how you want it, you can turn the car on to test the settings and fine-tune them if necessary.
-When you're happy with it, turn the transmitter off and on again to return to the normal mode where you can't change them. The transmitter will remember the settings.
-If you wish to limit the power of reverse and brakes it can be done the same way, just apply brakes instead of throttle when setting it.
-Turning can be adjusted the same way.
