The schools are out and the summer is here!
It's time to relax and spend quality time outside. We obviously recommend you do this with an RC car, boat, helicopter or plane!
On land
RC-cars are a very nice passtime and you can run them pretty much anywhere. There are dozens of options out there from high-speed monster trucks, drifters and even crawlers that can climb pretty much anything you throw at them. RC-cars are the most popular form of the RC hobby and are very easy to get into.
These monster trucks will help you get started for sure:

RC-boats in the other hand are the perfect passtime at the beach, you can either go for a high-speed boat that feels almost scary to drive or a sailboat that'll keep you entertained without scaring the fish away. RC-boats are pretty popular during the summertime and it's easy to see why; they offer loads of excitement and performance.

In the air
This spring we also added both RC-helicopters and RC-planes to our catalogue. They also make for great summer activities in many forms. You can go for the super intensive helicopter that requires laser focus and really rewards you for it. Another option is a bit more chill, an RC-airplane that'll help you conquer the skies. Flying is a great way to get into RC and performing tasks that require accuracy mid-air is very rewarding.

The RC hobby is a great way of spending time, you can do it when you feel like it or even get serious about it. We wrote a blog about why RC-cars are a great hobby for just about anyone, which you'll find here: A hobby is important for a child
In conclusion the RC hobby will bring you out of your day to day life, gets your adrenaline up, can be done alone or with friends and allows you to build exactly what you want to build. The hobby will improve your sense of responsibility, concentration, motor skills and teach you a thing or two about mechanics. All this while it's also giving you a good reason to leave the house if you just wish to. These themes are talked about in more detail in the blog mentioned above.
Hopefully with this information you'll find yourself something to do this summer. If you want to read into it even more we recommend you check out this article:

Frequently asked questions
-Should I get a 2WD or a 4WD car?
Both 2WD and 4WD cars are great options, the choice is yours. 2WD cars are generally cheaper and lighter, so you'll get more run time out of them with the same battery. A 4WD car has better off-road capabilities and is more versatile, you can drive it on almost any terrain. Driving a 4WD car is easier than driving a 2WD car and they tend to have more potential in the performance department. This is why we generally recommend 4WD cars but that doesn't mean the 2WD cars aren't still a great option.
-How big are these cars?
The size categories of the cars are scale sizes and the most common one is 1/10th scale, meaning the width, height and length of the car are about a tenth of that of a real car. They're usually just under 50cm long, while 1/18th scale cars are about 25cm and 1/8th scale cars around 60cm long. Our recommendation for a first car is a 1/10th scale car. They're big enough to tackle most outdoor terrain and not get caught up in roots and ruts. Given that the 1/10th scale is the most popular size category they also have a lot of standard parts such as batteries, motors, servos and tires so you can customize them to your liking pretty easily. The benefit of the larger size is so great that a 1/10th scale 2WD car will generally be more off-road capable than a 1/18th scale 4WD car.
-Are the hobby grade cars we sell really that much better than what you'll find at a local everyday store?
Yes. It's a night and day difference that you'll feel right away if you get your hands on a proper hobby grade RC.
-Can you drive these cars in the winter?
Yes you can! Most of our cars are waterproof to some degree and work well even during the winter. It's important to maintain the cars during this time, though, as leaving the car covered in snow will cause rusting. You should always clean it up after running in wet conditions and apply some multifunction oil to bearings and other metallic parts that could begin to rust. If the receiver of your car isn't waterproof you can protect it by using a waterproof box for it or by placing it inside an empty balloon. If a receiver that isn't waterproof does get wet it'll start cutting out but it'll usually work again after drying.
-Can a young kid drive these?
Yes! The youngest drivers are usually around 3-4 years old. Make sure to limit the throttle in some way, though, that way the youngest of kids can keep the cars under control while learning how to drive them and the cars are less likely to break upon impact. For the very youngest kids one way to go about it is to have someone control the throttle for them and let them be in charge of the steering wheel.
-My kid is still so young, isn't a toy Rc car enough?
A hobby grade car is a long term investment. When you get a hobby garde RC-car you can drive it for years to come. While the power is limited at first to keep the car in control of a beginner, adding it later on will keep it challenging enough to make it exciting. Toy RC-cars often break their promises and fail to operate in the way which they were supposed to.
-Do the cars come preassembled and what do I have to do to get driving?
RTR packages generally come prebuilt and ready to run unless stated otherwise. Make sure the package you're ordering includes a battery and a charger, for some models they have to be bought separately while in others they come from the factory. The batteries are usually at about half charge out of the factory for optimal storing, so make sure to fully charge them before you run your car. Most transmitters require 4 AA-batteries which are rarely ever included. Another good thing to do before running the car is to quickly check over the car to make sure everything looks to be in tact and all the screws and nuts are tight enough.
-I'd like to build my car myself, is that an option?
Nowadays almost all of our cars come prebuilt, the ones that don't can be found here: Electric Car Kits. Even though most of the cars are assembled from factory that doesn't mean you don't get to wrench. Aside from regular maintenance you can also play around with different shock and differential oil setups to see how the car performs with which viscosities. You can also switch in a more powerful power plant or whatever, the possibilities are endless. If that's not your thing, that's alright too. These cars come with very competent performance straight out of the box.
-How does the warranty work and what to do if the car breaks down?
All RC-cars have some sort of warranty. The length and coverage of it depends on the manufacturer. All warranties cover manufacturing defects, meaning if the car doesn't work right out of the box it's clearly a warranty case. If the car breaks down on the first run without seeing any crashes or real abuse it's also usually a warranty case. If the car breaks due to an impact or a lack of maintenance, it's not a manufacturing defect and therefore not covered under warranty. Most of the warranty cases are related to the cars' electronics breaking within the first week or so with no clear explanation.
When your car breaks down and you need help to get it running you can always contact our customer service. We always try our best to solve any possible warranty cases so that the car is back up and running as soon as possible with as little hassle as possible. We also help you find the spare parts you need and give you tips on fixing your car regardless of whether it's a warranty case or not. Remember that we're talking about hobby grade cars, they're going to require maintenance and can break down because of the immense performance. If you can't fix it youself we also have a service for that, the starting price is 40€/starting hour and prices of any parts needed will be added to that.
We actively test out the products we sell and here's a few videos on how we go about it:
